  1.  Registration open for Illinois Cooperative Council Youth Conference

The Illinois Cooperative Council is excited to offer a one-day youth conference on June 24 at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale!

We are currently limiting registration to 30 students due to COVID guidelines. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. We will accept up to two students per school until June 1, and will create a waiting list if more students wish to attend. If the limit is not reached by that time, or guidelines allow a larger number of students, we will accept additional registrations.

Please use this form to register: https://form.jotform.com/211094306950047

If you have questions, please contact Karen Jones, kjones@growmark.com, or Beth Bolger, beth.bolger@farmcreditil.com

  1.  Blue Ribbon Project contest

As you know, Compeer Financial is a strong supporter of agriculture youth. Although many local and county fairs will look different in 2021, we wanted to continue to support our young people – who are the future of agriculture. We know many 4-H and FFA members have worked hard on their projects throughout the year, and to honor this dedication we are announcing the second year of the Blue Ribbon Project contest.

This contest gives members the chance to showcase their projects with a photo and a short essay telling Compeer Financial how their project champions rural America. The first 1,000 submissions will get a cool t-shirt and have a chance to win a cash prize, and a donation to a group that is important to them. You can see the attached flyer for additional information and the link for the submission process.

The website is open now: compeer.com/BlueRibbon and the deadline to apply is June 1.

  1. Donation Opportunity at 2021 Farm Progress Show

The FS System, along with its cooperative partner, GROWMARK Inc, have long been supporters of the agriculture education and leadership development that FFA provides.  At the 2021 Farm Progress Show, we are excited to sponsor an activity that will net a donation to the Illinois Association FFA and five local FFA chapters.

FFA chapter members are invited to wear a free t-shirt (provided by GROWMARK) to the Farm Progress Show, then stop at the FS Tent to check-in. For every check-in cataloged during the show, the Illinois Association FFA will receive $1.00 up to $5,000.  The five chapters receiving the most check-ins will receive $1,000 each.

While FFA alumni, supporters and fans are all invited to check-in for their local chapter, t-shirts are especially made for chapter members and their advisors.

Donations will be made by the GROWMARK Foundation on behalf of the FS Cooperative System.  At show end, GROWMARK will announce the check-in totals and the 5 chapters to receive $1,000 each.  If your chapter is a gift recipient, you will be directly notified by your local FS Member Cooperative or GROWMARK, Inc.

On Wednesday September 1, the Illinois FFA State Officers will spend time at the Check-In to Cash-In event under the FS tent.  If your students are at the show that day, please invite them to stop by and chat with the officers.

HOW CAN YOUR CHAPTER PARTICIPATE?

  1. Gather t-shirt sizes for your students

  • Remember to include incoming freshmen

  • Note that t-shirt sizes are unisex sizes and style

  1. Go to the website to place a bulk order

  • All t-shirts will ship to one location

  • We will not gather student names but suggest that you maintain a list of student orders

  1. Order before July 1st – the website will close July 2nd

  2. Promote the donation opportunity

    • When you order t-shirts, we will also send you posters, flyers and social posts to help you spread the word in your community

    • Encourage your students to tell family, alumni and friends to check-in for their chapter

  3. Wear the t-shirts to the 2021 Farm Progress Show on any dates

    • August 31 – September 2 in Decatur, IL.

    • For more information about attending the show go to www.farmprogressshow.com.

  4. Check-In for your Chapter at the FS Tent, lot 1233

    • Remember, the five chapters that show the most check-ins will receive $1,000 each from the GROWMARK Foundation.

If you have any questions about the website or the program please contact Beverly Long at blong@growmark.com or myself.  We are excited to once again demonstrate our faith in the FFA organization through this program.  On behalf of the GROWMARK System and local FS Member Cooperative, we thank you for your dedication to agriculture education.
