1.U.S. Presidential Scholars in Career and Technical Education Nominations

The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program honors students based on outstanding scholarship and demonstrated ability and accomplishment in career and technical education (CTE) fields. Therefore, in addition to the general nominations, ISBE is also asking administrators, counselors, and teachers to nominate?up to five CTE students per school?from their jurisdiction to be included as candidates for recognition for excellence in CTE.

All high school seniors who are participants in a CTE program graduating between January and June of 2022 who are U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents and who attend public, parochial, or independent schools, as well as those who are home-schooled, are eligible.

Applications must be submitted to?presidentialscholars@isbe.net? by?4 p.m. Oct. 8.

For additional information about the program, visit the?U.S. Department of Education U.S. Presidential Scholars Program page. ISBE will review the applications it receives and select the top 10 male and top 10 female general U.S. Presidential Scholars and the top five CTE students. ISBE will submit nominations to the U.S. Department of Education (ED) in November.?ED will notify any students who advance to the level of semifinalist/finalist level.

2.   Illinois FFA Alumni and Supporters Scholarships

The Illinois FFA Alumni and Supporters will once again be offering alumni scholarships for these conferences in 2022:  Ground Zero Conference, Washington Leadership Conference (National FFA will release the WLC Conference registration later in November), and FFA Leadership Camp.  Please note that none of these events have set their registration cost, so the amount of the scholarship(s) will be announced at a later date.

Please note you must have an active Alumni Chapter by July 1, 2021 to apply for these scholarships.  Here is the active 2020-2021 alumni chapter listing.

If you have 2 applicants, please make the decision at the local level on who should complete the Illinois FFA Alumni & Supporters application.

If the conference/camp is cancelled due to COVID-19 Restrictions, the Illinois FFA Alumni and Supporters will not carryover the scholarship to the next year.

WLC & Ground Zero Scholarship Applications are due by November 1, 2021 and both require the FFA Advisor to reply to the submitted application with a short paragraph about the student applying for the scholarship.
