New Teaching Vacancies announced: Manteno, Burlington-Central

 

Manteno (District 2)- Agriculture Teacher & FFA Advisor

Status: Open

Manteno High School, located in Section 10, is seeking an agriculture teacher and FFA Advisor for the 2022-2023 school year. Courses taught include Intro to Ag (CASE), Intro to Ag Mechanics, Animal Science (CASE), and Horticulture.

The program has a large AgriScience classroom, a large mechanics lab, and a nice greenhouse.

The position will be open until a qualified candidate is employed.

Salary: Per negotiated salary agreement (10 month contract).

Burlington Central (District 2)- AgriScience Teacher & Co-FFA Advisor

Status: Open

Central High School, located in Section 6 between Burlington and Elgin, has a full time agriculture science and Co-FFA Advisor position opening for the 2022-2023 school year. Additional certification in science is preferred. Central recently built a state of the art veterinary science building and there are currently over165 FFA members with an opportunity for significant growth of the program from a regional agreement amongst local high schools that will feed into our program.

Courses to be taught will be dependent on the strengths of the candidate but may include: Intro to Ag Science, Veterinary Science 1 & 2, and/or Biology.

Salary and board paid TRS will be based off of the existing contract according to the successful applicants years of experience and education. Central also participates in the 3 Circle Grant and offers an excellent benefits package that includes fully paid single health and dental insurance.

Grundy Area Vocational Center (District 2)-Agriculture Teacher & FFA Advisor

Status: Open

Grundy Area Vocational Center (GAVC), Section 7, is seeking an Agriculture Teacher & FFA Advisor for the 2022-2023 academic year. The program is located at Coal City High School. The courses taught include Agronomy & Animal Science and Advanced Agronomy & Animal Science for both Junior and Senior students.
Recently the program acquired access to a 15 acre land lab and 4 acre farmstead site where they maintain produce and fruit production and house goats, chickens, rabbits, and visiting large animals for labs and SAEs. Additionally, the teacher will oversee student SAE experiences, serve as the FFA Advisor, and manage the 3 Circles and Incentive Funding grants.

Entering its fifth year, the GAVC AFNR program administration and community welcomes enthusiastic and visionary candidates who want to develop opportunities for SAE using the school land lab and other local resources. GAVC participates in the 3 Circles Grant.

Milford (District 2)-Agriculture Teacher & FFA Advisor

Status: Open

Milford High School, located in Southern Iroquois County in Section 10, is seeking an Agriculture Teacher & FFA Advisor for the 2022-23 academic year. Milford recently built a new high school with a very nice classroom, mechanics lab, and land lab, and greenhouse. The chapter has an active Alumni and a very supportive administration. Courses taught include Intro to Ag, Basic Ag Science, BSAA Plant & Animal, Ag Business Management, Ag Sales & Marketing, Horticulture, and SAE as a separate course credit.

Salary as per negotiated agreement. 2022-2023 beginning salary BS 1 is $49,101.00 that includes board paid TRS, 1st year as TRS employee sign on bonus of $1,099 and Board pays up to $550.00 per month for health insurance or $6600.00 per year. Tuition reimbursement of $250.00 per semester hour.

Marquette Academy (District 2)-Agriculture Teacher & FFA Advisor

Status: Open

Marquette Academy, located in Section 7 in Ottawa, is a recently established program seeking an Agriculture Teacher & FFA Advisor for the 20-21 school year. They are the first and only FFA Chapter located at a Catholic school in District 2.

Courses currently taught include: Intro to Ag, Plant & Animal Science, and Ag Business.

They have a very supportive administration and strong agricultural community support with a very active FFA Alumni.

Both full-time and part-time candidates will be considered, and interviews will continue until a great candidate is found.
