  New Teaching Vacancies: Peotone, Tri-Point, Chicago Ag Science

Peotone High School

The PHS Administration is posting a second Agriculture/CTE position teacher with the intent to expand our very successful Agriculture/CTE program. Strong consideration will be given to candidates with interest in teaching Agricultural Mechanics as well as other innovative instructional programs, but willing to be flexible with the right candidate. Peotone High School has a strong and supportive alumni and community.

Tri Point High School

Tri-Point High School in northern Ford County, located in Section 10, is seeking a full-time teacher with AFNR licensure as well as licensure in science or other endorsement areas to share teaching and FFA Advisor roles with the current Agriculture teacher.  In addition to teaching Agriculture classes, this teacher will be involved in expanding the SAE for All program and expand current programs with a focus on career pathways and core Science courses.

This is an extended year contract and participation in the 3-circle grant is planned.

This award-winning program boasts a variety of agricultural courses and an active FFA chapter, with strong support from the community, alumni, and administration.  Facilities include a newly renovated food science lab, mechanics shop, and dedicated AFNR classroom with strong technology access including student one-to-one program.

TPHS offers a wide-variety of AFNR classes including the following:  Introduction to AFNR, Basic Agriculture Science, BSAA, PSAA, Horticulture/Landscaping, Ag Business Management, Agriculture Mechanics, Advanced Food Science, Farm-to-Fork, Veterinary Science, Natural Resources

In addition to supporting SAE for All, this teacher will develop relationships with students in our RTI for All program, and in science or other classroom teaching assignments as qualified for and needed.  We believe that diversity is key to successfully reaching all our students.

Qualifications

Required Illinois Professional Educator License in Agriculture Education, with consideration given to those with additional endorsements specifically in Science education.  Non-traditional candidates will be considered.

Salary/Benefits

Tri-Point CUSD #6J participates in the Three Circle Grant.  In addition, salary and benefits are offered per the negotiated collective bargaining agreement including 100% board-paid TRS, tuition reimbursement, and health and life insurance.

Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences

Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences (CHSAS), is seeking a dynamic Food Science & Technology teacher for the 2022-23 school year. CHSAS is a magnet school within the City of Chicago Public Schools. All 800 students take Intro to AFNR their freshman year, complete rotations between the pathway (elective) programs during sophomore year, then choose an AFNR career pathway to take double-blocked AFNR elective courses for their Jr-Sr year.

Units of instruction include: principles of food preservation, food processing, biochemistry, food selection, and customer health. Facilities include a large classroom, food prep/lab space, and a large food science lab.
