Cambridge Jr./Sr High School 2nd Ag Teacher and Co- FFA Advisor Job Posting (Fall 2023)

Cambridge High School, located in Cambridge, IL and Section 3, has a full-time opening for the 2023-2024 school year for an Agricultural Education teacher and co-FFA advisor to join Mr. Trenton Taber as the second instructor. The program is energetic, established, competitive, and welcoming. The school administration, alumni, community, and students are excited to continue to grow the future of agriculture!

The Cambridge High School Agriculture Program has received many distinguishing honors, including being named the Illinois Premier FFA Chapter in 2019, 2020, and 2021. The National Association of Agricultural Educators recognized the school as the Region 4 Outstanding Agriculture Program in 2021. Additionally, the FFA chapter has been a 3-star National Chapter Award recipient for seven years, Top Ten National Premier Chapter Finalist, and home to several section presidents and a recent state FFA president.

Since 2016, students have received success in SAE’s having seven state proficiency winners, two national finalists, and one national winner. Also, students are motivated to earn degrees with seven American FFA degrees, 23 state FFA degrees and 11 Section 3 STAR award recipients. They have also competed at the National FFA Convention in the Agricultural Sales and Marketing Plan CDEs. The success of the program stems from dedication to the three circle model of ag education. The program is supported by an involved alumni group that is helpful in maintaining community relations and financial support.

Facilities currently include a classroom and office space, greenhouse, land lab, and ag mechanics shop. Starting this year, the program has begun a fundraising campaign to establish a new, state of the art ag education complex that will house a classroom for each teacher, board room, ag science lab, and animal science lab. A renovation to the current industrial arts building will take place this summer to house the ag mechanics classes. To learn more about the expansion click this LINK.

The courses taught will include 7th and 8th Grade Agriculture, Introduction to Agriculture, Biological Science Applications in Agriculture, Horticulture Production and Management, Animal and Veterinary Science, National Resource and Conservation, and Agricultural Business.  With the expansion to two teachers, the program will feature a full mechanics pathway including classes that cover carpentry, welding, surveying, plumbing, electricity, and power. The division of courses between teachers will be dependent on the strengths of the candidate. Multiple classes within the program count as dual credit through Black Hawk College. The program is supported by a nationally recognized counseling department that puts Career and Technical Education as its main priority.
