CARE Document in AET
As you are attending Fall events and preparing for the National FFA Convention at the end of the month, we hope we can make one thing a little easier. We have uploaded the Illinois FFA C.A.R.E. - Commitment to Appropriate and Respectful Experiences document to AET. We are asking that you review this document with your students prior to attending FFA events. Now it is conveniently located in AET for both your students and their parents/guardians to sign off on.
Students:
-
Login to AET
-
Click on the Profile screen
-
Then look for the link for "Emergency Info & Permission Forms"
-
The process requires students to update a page of information, and then the form is signed by parents via an email approval process (similar to awards).
Teachers:
-
Login to AET
-
Click on Accounts
-
Then look for Student Contact & Emergency Info
-
Then you can see who has completed the form, it will be a pdf document located to the far right on the screen for each student who has completed it and acquired the parent electronic signature.
No need to print the form, you will always have access to it via AET. We will be reviewing the Illinois FFA C.A.R.E. - Commitment to Appropriate and Respectful Experiences at our state conferences and asking students to make the commitment to C.A.R.E. while at the event.
In a world that is often in chaos… let us all guide ourselves and our members to CARE.

E15/Unleaded 88 Gasoline - Message from Illinois Corn
Fuel pricing and availability have rocked the headlines in recent months. These issues, as well as which vehicles and fuels are the most sustainable, might be conversations you’re having with your students and new drivers. In response, we are providing the following information about the choice they make deciding which fuel to put in their vehicle and we need your help! We created a brand-new video that we would love for you to share with your students to educate them on ethanol blends.
WATCH THIS SHORT VIDEO TO LEARN MORE
E15/Unleaded 88 is a blend of 15% ethanol and 85% gasoline becoming available at more and more gas stations every day (click here to find E15/Unleaded 88 at a gas station near you). This new blend is cheaper and more environmentally friendly than traditional fuels. Approved for vehicles model years 2001 and newer, students might not realize that this blend is safe for their vehicles and be more hesitant to choose the cheapest and most environmentally friendly choice. Below are a few facts about the benefits of ethanol that you can share with your class.
Environmental Facts:
-
Ethanol compared to gasoline without ethanol reduces Greenhouse Gas emissions by 40-45%.
-
In 2018, the use of ethanol in gasoline reduces CO2-equivalent Greenhouse Gas Emissions from vehicles in the U.S. by 55.1 million metric tons. That’s equal to removing 11.7 million cars from the road for an entire year.
-
Ethanol is a High-Octane Fuel which provides vehicles with more horsepower as well as maintains a cooler engine temperature and increases the run-time on the engine.
Financial Benefits:
-
E15/Unleaded 88 is typically cheaper than other fuel options saving drivers up to $0.10 per gallon or more during the last oil price surge.
-
If the entire nation was to make the switch to E15/Unleaded 88, there would be $12.2 billion saved on fuel each year.
For Students Who See a Future in Agriculture:
-
If E15 was made available nationwide, there would be an additional 2.4 billion bushels of corn in demand which would in turn benefit the entire agriculture industry.
-
Illinois ethanol plants have created more than 4,000 direct jobs for Illinois citizens and growing.
-
Rural Illinois communities are being provided with many stable, well-paying positions from ethanol plants that bolster the rural economy.
Ultimately, ethanol is a reliable fuel source that is meeting the growing demands of a more carbon-friendly tomorrow. We need the leaders of tomorrow to create, advocate for, and utilize ethanol.
