We are excited to introduce our newest faculty member in ALEC! Colby Gregg will join us this fall after finishing their final Ph.D. requirements at The Ohio State University. No stranger to Illinois, Colby was an agricultural educator at Naperville Central High School teaching Animal Science, Food Science, and Floral Design. Before teaching at NCHS, Colby grew up in south-central Oklahoma (think 'Tiger King' area) and went on to graduate with an undergraduate degree in Agricultural Education from Oklahoma State University.
At OSU, Colby worked with undergraduate and graduate students and taught a variety of classes including statistics, curriculum design, teaching methods, experiential learning & youth development, and cultural proficiency. Their research has centered around teacher motivation amid COVID-19; justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts that include teacher prejudice and LGBTQ+ agriscience teacher experiences. Colby's dissertation is focused on exploring and explaining Ag Ed teacher wellness through qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods.
We are excited to welcome Colby to our team. We hope you will welcome them back to Illinois and Illinois Agricultural Education, and soon! Colby plans to attend the State FFA Convention and IAVAT Conference, so make sure you say hi!
