CUSD #1 Agricultural Teacher/FFA Advisor, May 2024

 

Carlyle High School, located in Section 21, is seeking a highly-qualified agriculture instructor and FFA advisor for the 2024-2025 school year. The new teacher will be part of a multi-teacher (3) agriculture program working with Mrs. Tamra Gerstenecker and Mrs. Courtney Ibendahl. 

The agriculture program serves around 225 students annually ranging from 8-12 grade. The program is well-established and has very supportive administration, community and FFA alumni. 

 

Course offerings include Basic Ag Mechanics, Ag Construction & Technology, Advanced Ag Mechanics, Ag Machinery Service and Ag Business Management along with the following within the program: Introduction to Agriculture, Agricultural Science, 8th grade Ag Exploration, Veterinary Technology, Natural Resource Conservation and Management, Food Science Technology, Ag Sales & Marketing, Ag Leadership and Communications and Greenhouse / Floral Design. Specific courses taught will be determined based on the skill-set and work experience of the candidate and teacher team. The successful candidate will work with Mrs. Gersteneckerand Mrs. Ibendahl to determine final teaching assignments.

 

Facilities include 3 classrooms, an ag mechanics lab, FFA alumni field plot, hydroponics system and classroom kitchen access. All agriculture classrooms are equipped with student chromebooks or chrome-tablets. 

 

More information can be found at the school website. Candidates should have a valid Illinois Teacher License. Candidate salary will be consistent with the collective bargaining agreement. Additional benefits include 100% paid health insurance, life insurance & dental insurance, 100% district paid TRS, tuition reimbursement, mentor program, longevity and sick-leave bonuses offered by the board of education.  This position could include an extended year stipend with future possibility of Three Circles Grant.
