  SIUC: D5 & Invitational Horse Judging CDE - Location Moved to DuQuoin Fair Grounds

D5 & Invitational Horse Judging CDE – LOCATION CHANGE

Due to the expected rain and high winds, the SIU Horse Judging CDE will now be taking place indoors at the DuQuoin State Fair Grounds. The contest will still take place on September 13, 2024 with on-site check-in beginning at 8:30 a.m. The contest will begin at 9:30 a.m. 


Location – The contest will now be taking place indoors at the DuQuoin State Fair Grounds. The address is 655 Executive Drive, DuQuoin, IL 62832. Turn in at Gate 3 off of Route 51. There is a sign to direct you.

Parking – There is plenty of parking at the arena facility. 


There will be five classes. One class will be halter classes and four will be performance classes. Click here to view the patterns for these classes.

Ring 1:  Open Quarter Horse Halter

Ring 2:  Ranch Pleasure

Ring 3: Western Pleasure

Ring 4: Ranch Riding (pattern)

Ring 5:  Trail class (pattern)

 

***This could possibly change due to the location change. Any updates will be sent out ASAP.

 

Scantron - Please make sure your students know their chapter ID and fill it out appropriately on the scantron. Students will specify which team they are on, on their scantron sheets. Varsity will be team 01, JV will be team 02, and practice will be team 03. Click here to view the scantron. Please review this with your students before arriving to the contest!

 

Registration - Students must fill out this form https://myfuture.siu.edu/register/Horse24 to ensure we have accurate records of those who come to our campus. To save time, please have students fill out this form before arriving to SIU for the contest.

 

We will also have teachers fill out a form to specify which students are on which team to ensure our records are correct. This form is attached.

 

Dress – Although the contest is moved indoors, please dress for weather. Close toed and comfortable shoes are encouraged!

 

Reminders 

  • Writing utensils will not be provided! Please have your students bring their own writing utensils!!
  • Clipboards are recommended
  • Tell your students to EAT and DRINK before the contest!!
    • The SIU Equestrian Team will be selling drinks and snacks prior to the contest during registration
  • Please remind your students that this is a contest and there is to be no talking during!
  • ***By registering for this contest students are agreeing to their photos being taken and their photos may be used for promotional material in the future

 

 

***If you are unable to attend due to the change in location please let me know by the end of the day Thursday September 12th and I will work with judging card to cancel your registration.
