Watseka Community High School, located in Section 10, is seeking a full-time agriculture educator for immediate hire. The newly hired teacher will work with the current agriculture teacher, Phil Wilkey. The Watseka High School Ag Ed program is a Three-Circles program. Currently there are 200+ students enrolled in Ag Ed classes. The Watseka Community Unit District #9, administration, Board of Education, alumni, and community are very supportive of this program.
Classes to be taught would be based upon the interest and strength of the successful candidate. Current courses offered are Introduction to Agriculture (7th grade rotation), Ag Business, Floral Design, Careers, Biological Science Applied to Ag (BSAA), and Computer Concepts. The facilities include: two classrooms, a wood shop, greenhouse, mechanics/welding shop, and land lab.
