Ag Teacher & FFA Advisor

Description

Orion High School, located in Orion in Section 3, is seeking an Agricultural

Education Teacher/FFA Advisor position for the Fall of 2025.

The Orion Ag Department has an ag mechanics shop, greenhouse (adding a 450-600ft2 addition as early as this summer), torch mate, apple/peach tree orchard (a total of 24 trees), and a 17-acre FFA test plot. Current courses to be taught (although, flexible based on candidates) are Environmental Science, Ag Mechanics, Intro to Ag, Agronomy, Animal Genetics/Nutrition, and Diversified Occupations (which is an on-the-job experience course).  The school is 1 to 1 with Chromebooks and does not allow cell phones in the classroom. The Agriculture Department utilizes a touch screen Promethean board, Ag Office Space, and FFA Officer conference room/mini lab. The Agricultural Mechanics Shop is organized with plans to expand the vocational building in the future. Agriculture is extremely important in our community with John Deere Headquarters only 15 miles away and we have very supportive alumni.  

Candidates must have an Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or Career and Technical Education Educator License with Stipulations (ELS).  The contract length is 12 months as the school district participates in the Three Circle FFA and SAE grant.
