  NEW Program- Teaching Vacancy - Jacksonville Middle School

Jacksonville Middle School in Section 13 is seeking a middle school agricultural education teacher and FFA Advisor.

Position Purpose:
Facilitate student growth in agricultural knowledge, leadership development, and interpersonal skills through district-approved curriculum, tracking progress, addressing individual needs, and creating a safe, optimal learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement agricultural education lesson plans aligned with school goals.
  • Foster a safe, engaging classroom and lab environment with individual and group instruction.
  • Support FFA chapter operations, including meetings, events, and student leadership opportunities.
  • Assess student progress and adapt teaching methods, including for special needs students.
  • Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and student involvement in FFA activities.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administration.
  • Encourage parental involvement and enforce school conduct standards.
  • Collaborate with staff on curriculum evaluation, improvement, and FFA integration.
  • Supervise students during school activities and administer standardized tests.
  • Continue professional development through agriculture-specific seminars and research.

Qualifications:

  • Certification/License: Illinois State Certification as a Middle School Teacher with Agricultural Education endorsement preferred; valid driver’s license or reliable transportation.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in agricultural education or related field.
  • Experience: Prior teaching experience in agricultural education and FFA advising preferred.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of teaching methods, agricultural curriculum, and student leadership development.
  • Proficiency with technology, classroom, and lab management.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Work Environment:
Standard school settings, agricultural labs, and occasional travel for FFA events, district meetings, or professional development.

FLSA Status: Exempt.
