Set-up by 5:30 pm at the Benton High School - Cafeteria
Click here to register prior to February 26th.
7-12 grade agriculture students are eligible as an individual or group. All students should receive a framed certificate with A, B, or C rating. Possible top cash prizes for best 5-10 projects. This event is not a requirement for a student to compete at the state AgriScience Fair but is a good "practice" before the state event.
Only one component is needed for the Fair Project:
1 - Project Report
*No Tabletop or free standing display is needed as it is not allowed at state or national level.
Student interview by a judge - about 5-10 minutes
-Review District 5 scoresheet
-Introduce yourself
-Explain your project...What did you set out to do?
-What was the purpose?
-What happened and why?
-What was accomplished?
-What were the final results?
Judging Criteria
-Appropriateness of the project: agriculture/science relationship
-Information and data in the report
-Organization and grammatically correct in the report
-Knowledge of the project
-Amount of work done
-Speaking ability
Best Practices
-Review extra resources.
-Break the entire project into several small tasks.
-Spend quality time researching topics.
-Share the benefits of research...careers, new products, etc.
-Use the agriscience fair project as a SAE.
-Involve agribusiness leaders and FFA alumni as sponsors and judges and to assist in identifying quality topics.
-Show the projects in a hallway or prominent area of the school.
