Ag Robotics and Automation Technologies (ARAT) Project

The ARAT project introduces students to concepts in automation and robotics in three systems: animal, plant, and food. The current development of the curriculum includes two bookend units. The first unit introduces core concepts in automation and robotics, while the last unit guides students through an open-ended design project. With these bookends are three modules - animals, plants, and food. Teachers can incorporate these independently for shorter periods or incorporate them together to meet their needs.

The development of the CASE Agricultural Robotics and Automation Technologies (ARAT) project is made possible by a 3-year National Science Foundation Project Grant led by a partnership between CASE, AgCentric, Minnesota State Colleges, and industry partners. CASE is seeking secondary partners to field test the curriculum for the 2025-2026 school year.

Agricultural Robotics and Automation Technologies field test will be held:

July 28th—30th at AgCentric in Staples, MN

The National Science Foundation will fund participant expenses, including room, board, transportation, and materials. However, those selected must place a $500 downpayment to hold their reservation. AgCentric will reimburse you $500 after you attend the first day of the CASE Institute.

Applications are due by March 15th, learn more.

Investigating Agricultural Biotechnology (IAB) Project

The CASE Investigating Agricultural Biotechnology (IAB) curriculum and professional development will provide teachers with the technical content and skills to prepare secondary students for plant biotechnology careers. CASE developed an Animal and Plant Biotechnology course ten years ago, introducing students to basic biotechnology skills and agricultural applications. Changes in the agricultural industry and education demand revisions to the course. Funding will support these revisions, standard alignments, enhanced professional development, and student assessment.

The curricular resource will have two modules: the first will focus on technical skills, and the second will focus on plant applications. The technical skill module will be field-tested during the 2025-2026 school year, and the plant applications module will be field-tested in 2026-2027. Teachers participating during the 2025-2026 field test will be invited back to participate in the field testing plant applications field test in 2026-2027. The modular format will enable teachers to implement the curriculum in smaller “chunks” from 60-90 days to use as a semester-long course or insert into other AFNR courses.

Investigating Agricultural Biotechnology field test will be held:

July 21st—24th at Allentown High School in Allentown, NJ

Sponsorships will fund participant expenses, including room, board, and certification costs.

Applications are due by March 15th, learn more.
