Slices & Startups is a dynamic meetup designed for students—from 8th grade through college—who are eager to dive into the world of startups. Held at Distillery Labs, each event serves as a crash course that demystifies the nuances between launching a traditional business and spearheading a startup. Attendees will not only have the opportunity to gain firsthand insights from industry experts, but they’ll also enjoy complimentary pizza, making the learning experience as engaging as it is delicious.
Each month, we explore a specific theme to keep our sessions fresh and relevant. For March, our focus is on AgTech & Foods. This month’s event will feature 4-5 founders from diverse sectors, including precision agriculture, innovative implements, autonomous equipment, simulation software, and even the recent Bank Tank winner with his startup, Ag Defense Systems. Additionally, an expert from the USDA Ag Lab will join us to discuss cutting-edge projects in the field, offering students a well-rounded perspective on the evolving agricultural landscape.
We are actively seeking to reach students involved in FFA, 4H, and other Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs such as manufacturing, computer programming, and robotics. Beyond our monthly sessions, we are excited to highlight an upcoming summer program at Distillery Labs where high school students will have the chance to collaborate with college students, IT professionals, engineers, researchers, and farmers in an AgTech innovation sprint. We welcome any introductions to teachers who can help us expand our reach. While our turnout has been steady, we believe that with the right partnerships and a little extra support, Slices & Startups can grow into an even more impactful resource for young innovators.
