A Note From Mike:
I was hired 12 years ago to take over as shop teacher and teach Ag Construction, with nothing more than a basic background in hammers and nails and a semester college course on Ag Mechanics. Over the past 12 years, I have learned many shortcuts/plans/techniques that may help you teach this subject in your classrooms.
We will be building Cornhole Boxes as a project for the workshop while learning to use the following equipment: Panel Saw, Table Saw, Hole Saws and cordless drills, pneumatic nailguns and staplers, wrenches, drup sanders, orbital sanders, belt sanders, drill press, and the band saw. Topics discussed will be class organization and structure, woodworking, creating and reading projects/plans, shopping/pricing projects, technical drawing/sketching, power tools, shop safety, jig making, and other shortcuts and tips I had to learn the hard way.
If you are uncomfortable in a shop setting with students, this will be a great workshop to get you ready to use unfamiliar equipment and provide you with the skills to teach your students.
